Historical Holiday Church Tour

This event occurs in the past Have you ever wondered what was behind the door of some of Philadelphia’s oldest and most beautiful churches? Well, now’s your chance. The churches of Fishtown and Kensington will open their doors Sunday, December 28th for a guided bus tour through the history of these neighborhoods gems. The Christmas Season is the absolute best time to see these architectural and cultural treasures some of whom may be at risk of closing their doors forever. Just this past year St. Laurentius RC Church and Pilgrim Congregational Church closed. The tour will visit Kensington United Methodist (Old Brick) Church, First Presbyterian Church of Kensington, Atonement Evangelical Lutheran Church, Summerfield/Siloam United Methodist Church, Beacon Presbyterian Church, St. Michael’s Church and Visitation BVM Roman Catholic Church. Seating is limited, ticket prices are $20 and all proceeds will go to benefit the churches. The bus will leave NKCDC, 2515 Frankford Avenue at 1 pm and return around 5 pm on December 28th.
