This event occurs in the past
New this year, North Light is forging a partnership with the Manayunk-Roxborough Food Coop Initiative to provide educational workshops to the community on health and nutrition. This four-part series will take place at Northlight and will be open to the families we serve and the community-at-large. Workshops will be led Alexandra DiFilippo. DiFilippo is board certified as an Holistic Health Counselor, Reiki Practitioner and mother of three. She shows clients how to balance their life through food, exercise, spiritual practice, and improve their quality of life in relationships and career. Specializing in cleansing, digestive and auto-immune disorders, she guides clients towards health through principals of bio-individuality to discover an optimal diet. The main focus of these workshops is to shift to a plant-based, organic, whole food diet.

On March 19th, from 7-8pm North Light and the Manayunk-Roxborough Food Coop will be hosting the first event of this series titled "Sugar Blues". This workshop is about sugar addiction. By adding in more balanced forms of sugar (root vegetables, whole grains), one can move away from sugar cravings. It discusses the role of sugar in the body, how cravings work, and the detriments of over-indulging.
