Cheesemaking Workshop
Noon-2pm Saturday May 30, 2015 | St. Michael's Lutheran Church |
This event occurs in the past At the Greensgrow Community Kitchen at St. Michael's, award winning cheese maker Jamie Png from Cherry Grove Farm will demonstrate easy ways to make fresh simple cows milk cheese at home. Making simple cheese at home can be easy and doesn’t require a lot of special equipment or ingredients. This is a great introduction to the basics for people who have never made cheese at home and for folks who have made cheese but need some troubleshooting tips. Jamie will demonstrate simple techniques to “age” the fresh cheese at home in molds. We will make something that initially looks like a simple ricotta and learn how to transform it into something close to a paneer. We’ll work in groups to get hands on heating up milk, adding a coagulant, draining, molding. Everyone will get some to taste and will get a simple cheese mold and some cheese cloth to experiment with at home too.
