Art For Joe
2pm-6pm Sunday July 5, 2015 | Lucky's Last Chance |
This event occurs in the past Cytokine storm occurs when a patient's own engineered T cells are infused back into their bloodstream during a bone marrow transplant. It manifests as extremely high fevers, precipitous drops in blood pressure, and can be life threatening. As a new PA in bone marrow transplant, I cared for an amazing man getting transplanted and getting T cells. His journey affected me deeply, leading me to paint his Cytokine Storm. Ten months later, 14 year old Joe was exploring the halls at the hospital while his dad was getting a similar transplant, and found my painting. Without knowledge of its inspiration or the artist, he felt deeply connected to the it. The painting came to represent his father's recovery, and was donated to him. Unfortunately, Joe's dad succumbed to his disease January 19, 2015. Please come to a night of art, relativity and connection as we raise money to send Joe to college, and to help the Cytokine Storm now represent growth and healing. facebook.com/events/1439219909721056 | (215) 509-6005 4421 Main St Philadelphia, PA 19127 |
